The truth is, I was not happy how the story ended. Maybe the two episodes that were cut down from the story could have given the finale a  more interesting ending.  The drama was supposed to have 18 episodes but then they ended with 16 episodes. A big difference, about two hours, same amount time of a full movie. A lot can happen in those two episodes and perhaps the awaited face off between Cha Young Woo could be there. Well, I am not sure but I know that how the drama ended was a bit hanging. It was like the story builds it's climax only to go downhill without any good results. Even the final settlement in the case Seok Joo accepted just closed without so much noise. His big loss against Cha Young Woo's firm only showed how a big firm can do anything in their power to get what they want, results in their favor. [thoughts on episodes 13 and 14] A New Leaf is still one of the dramas that is interesting and although the pace of the story has become slow in the last couple of weeks, and the legal terms are really [seriously!] making my brains muddled and confused trying to catch up, the story is as appealing as ever since episode 1. Setting aside the corporate side of the story, I am liking the parts where Seok Joo and his father interact. The sudden change in Seok Joo which resulted in the accident makes him more human, humble and loving towards his father. For the first time, I think he sees his father's good traits which I doubt he even realized while growing up. The path he took which was so opposite to his father's principles maybe born out of being successful in his field of work, still it somehow showed how he never respect his father's thoughts about his choices. Episode 9 brings a new light to Lee Ji Yoon as a first time trial lawyer. Representing the suspect who killed his father because he did not show any sadness from his grandparent's memorial. The suspect is believed to be psychologically unbalanced and was constantly being beaten by his father. Neighbors who Ji Yoon questioned told her stories of violence from the family every time the father was home. His mother who died two years back was believed to be killed by his father. He even testified that he did it but due to lack of evidence, the father was acquitted. It was said that he had an alibi at that time, still he claimed the murder as his own doing. The son now is the suspect in the murder of his father, charged with "patricide". He is still young and unstable. Lee Ji Yoon committed herself to defend this young man from being sentenced to life. Episode 8 Recap and some thoughts A Swift Win The case of Jung Hye Ryeong can be called a swift win. Seok Joo handled it like no other defense lawyer can. A thorough evidence that left the prosecutors hanging with their mouths open. All the loopholes in the evidence were tackled and the judge has no reason to continue the case when it is clear that there is no hard evidence pointing to the suspect. Seok Joo just earned respect from Jung's previous lawyer. A surprising twist of events. After winning the case, Lee Ji Yoon invited Kim Seok Joo to have chicken and beer with her later at the apartment. She was so excited for the win of her first case.
