[mslee's thoughts] Temptation - A Marriage Without Love, Will There Be Happy Endings?

Episodes 11 and 12 showed Hong Joo and Min Woo commit themselves in a marriage viewers like me saw as convenience. Yes, for both know where they stand and although Min Woo, I believe really likes her, Hong Joo has been honest with him that she does not love him.

They are coming together with Hong Joo's ulterior motive is revenge and Min Woo is going to help her achieve that. Is the marriage doomed after all? Viewers who could not understand the character of Hong Joo are disgusted by her actions. I agree that revenge is not the answer for her pains but sometimes, in her case I would want the writer to give her at least one satisfaction that could ease the sufferings she still carries up to this point.  Let's give her a break. She has not yet completed the process of grieving and loss. Seriously, with her weak state, she needs to go through the stages before she heals completely. And if she thinks she will feel better to see both people who did her injustice, let her. Maybe in the process, she will discover for herself that she won't gain anything by such actions and that she will back down and let go completely.

The marriage is a brilliant move from Min Woo. Again, the despicable character of the drama has been taking a lot of bashing because of his history as a womanizer and a bad husband. But know what? This type of character in dramas and even in real life do exists and I have been a witness to some that they are capable of changing given the right time and the right woman by their side. I believe Min Woo is sincere towards Hong Joo. He saw her during her worst time. He knew her pains and understand her more than her ex husband. I believe that he fell in love with her and soon, if the writer will be good to this couple, he will teach Hong Joo how to love him back and to be happy.

The proposal scene is not a mockery which I could have expected but the opposite. It was beautiful, sincere and Min Woo tried to keep it as simple like Hong Joo's personality. The kiss may be awkward but not forced. He knows how to act and how to give the right kiss to someone like Hong Joo.

I believe that their union together will move forward strong and the relationship will develop. This may not be a concrete evidence, but the music background used in the episodes when Min Woo and Hong Joo were together, when he proposed, it was so beautiful, depicting of a lovely romance and the hope of a good marriage down the road. I think it is so opposite with the background themes used when Seok Hoon and Se Young are together.

There is truth in Min Woo and Hong Joo's relationship from the start. I think Min Woo did all the right things to convince Hong Joo of his sincerity. He faced her father and asked for blessings. He is a CEO, wealthy, arrogant as a businessman, but he has manners when it comes to basics. I want to be optimistic here as a viewer that the writer will not disappoint me until the drama ends. With moral values at stake, the writer is giving a wonderful story to the love between Seok Hoon and Se Young which I believe started very wrong.

Min Woo may be the trash most people spit at, but he can show sincerity if he wants to. He is a ruthless husband to his former wife but then there must have been something wrong with their marriage at the beginning. The wife is not the push over type but then she is not a saint either. She cheated on him like he did her. An eye for an eye, but just the same, both did wrong.

For Hong Joo, revenge is her only goal but in the process, she will realize she is doing something wrong and will surely come back to what she was, a woman who is not worldly, someone who can not be bought by money and someone who loves her family sincerely.

I don't care what happens to the OTP but I do hope the writer will give me a dose of redemption to appreciate this train wreck that happened in this drama.

mslee1107 is looking forward to Hng Joo's new life. It might not start in a good way, she may still be stubborn just like I predicted in episode 1 but hopefully she will heal from all the things that pains her.

From this episodes forward I will be posting thoughts about Hong Joo and her journey to find the forgiveness she should give in the end. Happy endings has a chance for this couple.

my own point of view
