[mslee's thoughts] Fated To Love You - Final Thoughts
The love story which began in a one night stand finally comes to an end. The good thing about it, the writer gave the viewers 3 episodes of pure love and romance with a bit of funny moments of the couple Mi Young and Gun. I have been a follower of so many romantic dramas and I think this particular story gave a satisfying ending which viewers did not felt cheated.
From the moment Gun and Mi Young decided to give their love another try, the sad moments I had seen randomly the entire drama erased by this new beginnings. Though it was not as smooth as they like it to be for Mi Young's mother opposed to the reunion, still they persist and waited patiently for her decision to turn around.
This drama although silly at most times, will be one of those that will make me watch again if I suddenly feel like watching because just thinking of the drama and Jang Hyuk portraying Lee Gun is enough to make me smile. Jang Hyuk has shown his versatility in acting. He could be the most foolish guy with his idiotic laughs and he could also be this guy who can make an audience in me cry while he controls his emotions. He has been very convincing at being the man who sacrificed his love secretly to letting go of his one true love just to spare her from further hurt.
There are so many good scenes in the drama and those of Gun and Mi Young are beautiful especially the sad moments. Then there is Daniel Pitt who also got me liking even if he is the second guy in the drama. His kindness, selfless acts are all appreciated. Even at the end when he was so certain of his feelings for Mi Young, he gave in and let her go. SeRa was not the vicious girlfriend but she did what she had to do to hold on to Gun which made me felt annoyed towards her. But just like in any k-drama of this genre, the time to stop and move on came to her. She even apologized to Mo Young of the lies she told her in the past.
I think the three episodes were just enough to wrap up the story beautifully. Daniel and Se Ra found out their real relationship as brother and sister. The build up of trust between them as siblings was not rushed but they were given time to accept the reality and to feel the ties they have between them naturally. The mother of Mi Young also got her own contemplating. She witnessed how Gun treasured Mi Young and seemed really loves her. In the end, she just had to admit that they are a couple that needed her blessings to be happy forever.
The cute part of the ending was the reenactment of the Macau one night stand. Of course, the "hamo-hamo" duo this time were the secretary and the brother. Again, Gun and Mi Young did not remember anything about their first night this time as newly weds to Gun's shocking surprise. But all ends well, of course.
The story also showed that Gun's father did not abandon them just as he thought. He found out that he moved away to spare them of the pains they would faced once the disease progressed. And that the "other woman" who he came to dislike was just someone who stayed beside him together with her fatherless son. Learning all these made him realized that his father never betrayed them. Gun finally appreciated the mother and son living with them and although they are not family, he made them one.
As for secretary Tak, well, he will always be one of the secretaries in k-dramas that will remind me of Hyun Bin's secretary in Secret Garden, Kim Sung Oh, but I think Tak is more foolish and exaggerated which only made the scenes with him and Gun funny. They really have that amazing chemistry.
And the ending shot of Gun and Mi Young with their twins showed a happy, contented and loving couple in k-dramaland. The story was wrapped up nicely.
Kamsahamnida writernim and PDnim for a wonderful story. It may not be perfect but still I got to rate it as one of the best romance/comedy that will surely be added in my list of favorites.
