[mslee's thoughts] Iron Man / Blade Man Episode 2 Screen caps Review
The story keeps amusing me. The lines are good between the characters. How they are being delivered is what makes the story fun. Not minding the facial expressions of Hong Bin, which are so animated for all times, well, animated is positive, while he is always growling, snapping or snarling, but setting these aside, Lee Dong Wook is giving his character a good impression of how he is described by the writer.
I see that Hong Bin has a deep personality, but he acts childish maybe because it is easier to make tantrums than to deal with them in a mature way and get hurt by the pains of his past. I think this is the only way he can manage his life, by making everyone around miserable for them to give up on him, but Secretary Ko for example is one of the faithful servant he has that won't go away even if he is his punching bag for most times.
Episode 2 showed that Hong Bin's blades literally go out or unleash on his back whenever he is so mad and his anger always affects the weather, making it dark then rain follows. But what is interesting, he seemed oblivious of what is happening to him when he is angry. He did not know that blades are coming out because what follows is that he will faint. So after he wakes up, he has no memory of what happened, hence why the trees in his backyard are cut thoroughly. He asked Secretary Ko why he keeps fainting and why he did not bring him to the hospital but instead to the boxing ring where he was once were in episode 1. He told him maybe he needed to go to the hospital for check up. This happened after his heated confrontation with his father at the police station where his dongsaeng was arrested with his friends for fighting. He called Hong Bin but sadly his hyung never acknowledged him in front of his friends and the police. But when the father slapped the litle brother and kept on hitting him in the head, Hong Bin stopped it by holding tightly to his father's wrist and of course, the exchanged of painful words began.
There was deep hatred between them. I know one reason is Kim Tae Hee, the woman he loved. But I think there is more to the story that is yet to be revealed. What I find interesting is that when Se Dong went to see him at his office because her colleagues vandalized his fence and they are now in jail, that she can say anything to him although scared, but she can get away with it. She asked him to return Monstro to them, but of course, it was an absurd request coming from her. She then asked him to hire them because they knew exactly what needed to develop in the project because it was their own idea in the first place. She asked not to get paid but when Monstro get released in the public, they get paid half for copyrights. Well, Hong Bin rejected the idea. Funny when she was at a loss for words first and he kept on taunting her, she shouted at him to be quiet, to let her think and he did. Wow, Se Dong can really make him stop and not angry at her for long.
The first part in the episode was when after she laid the child on the floor to sleep, she could not go out to talk with Hong Bin who was waiting for her. He then kneeled on the pavement amidst the grimes and spoke with her through the small window. But when she started talking he just closed his eyes and smelled her, basked in the scent that he finds soothing to him. That's when Se Dong realized what he has been doing and thought he was really crazy and a pervert. She slammed the steel window which caught his face.
Another amusing part is when Se Dong told him that she would wipe the graffiti off his fence with Joy! LOL! And he thought she would use Joy on his face with the wound he got from her window. Actually, every scenes with Se Dong is cute because they have good chemistry as sunbae/hoobae. They can pass as siblings, too. I wonder if there will be no love lines between Se Dong and Hong Bin, it is okay because a different kind of love can build between them as friends, or as mentor and student in the business side of the story. Their story can be enchanting.
Well, episode 2 treated me and the viewers to a beautiful sightings of Hong Bin's body. Yeah, for a guy with a nasty temper and unbelievable impossible character, he has something to offer, physically good looking body! But then again, his obsessive compulsive behavior is too much.
The child of Tae Hee will bring Se Dong and Hong Bin closer. The child ran away when he saw police car, knowing he will again be apart to Se Dong who he trust. Hong Bin finally learned about the child. What will happen next should be fascinating.
Secretary Ko is very suave in his scenes even if he rolls down the stairs and received the punches from his boss. He is charismatic in being the secretary who sometimes show his naivety and ignorance. Viewers will surely like him just as I am liking him.
This is my random recap of the episode. I have a feeling that Hong Bin will start acting an adult now that the real child is in the picture. Time for some responsibility.
I think this drama is not foolish. Frankly this reminds me of Johnny Depp and his movies which are eccentrics. Lee Dong Wook has given Hong Bin a
unique aura that is different from other characters.
Lots of screen caps...
