[mslee's thoughts] The King's Face Episode 22 Screen caps Review

When will Prince Gwang Hae fulfill his dream as the righteous King when at every turn, his own father suspects him of being greedy for the throne even if he is still alive?

After watching episode 21 and thinking that it was the end for Kim Do Chi, I find myself doubting if it was really the end for Kim Do Chi. It was so predictable that he would surely die but I wonder why Prince GwangHae was not the one who faced him?

Now watching episode 22, I was right. Prince Gwang Hae and Kim Do Chi should have at least one final face off.

The spy planted inside the palace, the one who Kim Do Chi spared his life, the one who betrayed the Jurchens was the one who led the other to get Kim Do Chi at the interrogation room. They killed all the soldiers that were guarding Do Chi. He escaped, leaving the city to hide for 5 years.

It's sad that Eunach Song died after serving his majesty the King and being loyal to him. This man also loved and took care of Prince Gwang Hae and had been a teacher to him. I was right when he left the book to Ga Hee to give to Prince Gwang Hae at the right time. It was his way of saying goodbye.

The King had a child with the new young Queen. The Queen may be young but she certainly was not naive and stupid. She was the one who hid Do Chi. All these years, Ga Hee remained besides the King. She hid her feelings for Gwang Hae but there were times the King caught her showing her emotions without her knowing as she stared at Gwang Hae from a far. The King stayed silent.

I am just a bit annoyed with the King for his fickle mind. He offered to Gwang Hae his seat, telling him it is time for him to take some load off him. Gwang Hae of course denied the King. He wants the throne but not this way. His father is still alive.

But when news that  Jurchen was on his way to meet Prince Gwang Hae, when the former Daedong soldier who was once Prince Gwang Hae's man became the Chief soldier beside the King and betrayed the Prince by rounding up all the officials who are discussing the successor as the Prince, the King announced that it was treason. The men were interrogated. Gwang Hae was soon to be ousted from the palace.

The Jurchen was caught by Kim Do Chi. He bundled the man inside a sack and brought him at the palace door. He was interrogated. The King ordered to find the evidence that would prove Gwang Hae betrayed the King with the message he got from Jurchens. Ga Hee quickly went to search Prince Gwang Hae's room. Together with the Crowned Princess, they found the letter and Ga Hee hid it inside her clothes.

The King suspected Ga Hee. He also told her that he knew about her feeling's to his son. Prince Gwang Hae was not able to go see Ga Hee after learning she had the letter. The Princes, his wife told him to save himself first and let go of Ga Hee. It would be more safe to stay away.

The Queen will be pushing for the Grand Prince to be the Crown Prince after Gwang Hae left the palace. She thought Do Chi is going to help her. But she is mistaken. She has turned greedy as well.

Do Chi and Prince Im Hae was planning to raid the palace and kill the King. They have to execute their plan now that Gwang Hae will be no longer be a Prince. As Kim Do Chi and his army went to the palace, Gwang Hae was taken by the soldiers.

Even at this time, I am not liking the King one bit. Maybe I am repeating myself but he is just so callous and prejudiced when it comes to Gwang Hae. There is no father love for his son. He is too focused to stay the King that whatever Gwang Hae did he seemed not satisfied.

I feel pity for this Prince who loves his people and his family sincerely. 

One more episode  to go.Will the throne be finally be within Gwang Hae's grasp? As for the ill fated love between Ga Hee and Gwang Hae, I already accepted that they are really not meant to be. She was there to serve two dragons, the King by his side and Gwang Hae, as a silent supporter to attain his goal.
