[mslee's thoughts] Surplus Princess Episode 10 Final Screen caps Review

Before I watched the drama I had read some spoilers already about some viewers not satisfied with the ending. So I thought, Princess Aileen [the mermaid] had not chosen between the two in the final episode or that the drama had an open ending.

In episode 9, her thoughts were all about Shi Kyung although she was getting confused by the sudden care she has been receiving from Hyun Myung. Something was bothering her about it. In episode 9, it ended where Shi Kyung saw them embracing each other. 

Final Episode

Team Shake It won the competition. And I find satisfaction seeing the elite group who stole their first idea and present it as if it was theirs lost to them in an unbelievable and sour expressions. Yeah, guess they deserve it for being arrogant.  The rest of the gang had a celebration that night at their residence. They had a happy atmosphere although Ha Ni was missing from the table together with her friend Hye Young. They were talking upstairs about Hyun Myung. But Hye Young told Ha Ni to just focused on Shi Kyung.

Ha Ni and Shi Kyung decide to have a date the following day. Hyun Myung was silent when he found out about it, while Ha Ni was a bit uncomfortable around him. Ji Yong then told them it will rain. Hyun Myung thought about it.

While Ha Ni walked towards the meeting place, the rain started falling. She had no umbrella so she run under a tree and crouched there, trying to cover her legs with her skirt, hoping the rain would not wet her legs. Suddenly, Hyun Myung with an umbrella appeared beside her, protecting her from the rain, even drying her feet. He also carried her on his back on her way to Shi Kyung. By that time, Shi Kyung was already there waiting and he again saw both coming towards him. Hyun Myung gave the umbrella to Ha Ni and walked under the pouring rain. Ha Ni kept on glancing towards Hyun Myung, bothered by him getting wet. Even when she was with Shi Kyung at the restaurant her mind was elsewhere which was not unnoticed by Shi Kyung. I felt sad for him. He knew then that Ha Ni changed and somehow what she felt for him was not the same as before. 

The team Shake It started their training at JH Foods company. Everyone was excited. But then, Ha Ni's profile became questionable when one of the staff came upon the same profile but with a different picture. One of the two was definitely a fake. Of course, the witch A Jin came to know it. Another opportunity for her to humiliate Ha Ni and uncover her secret.

She confronted Ha Ni inside. alone and asked her about her profile. Ha Ni was caught off guard but then stayed firm about her lie and her identity. The two had a fight, A Jin shoving foods in her face which was seen by Shi Kyung and yelled at A Jin. Finally, A Jin was caught.

Ha NI had to take a shower but she was perplexed, nervous about what happened and about getting wet. An Ma Nyeo was not answering her calls. She tried the shower and soon she was all wet, her legs turning into fish tails. A Jin witnessed the scene. 

Outside, the team was readying for filming. There was a gallon of water being poured over a container near Ha Ni and Hyun Myung. A Jin decided to make her move to let everyone there see who the real Ha Ni is. But Hyun Myung somehow felt what would happen and as A Jin push the gallon of water away, Hyun Myung protected Ha Ni. They both fell down on the ground but the pole of the lighting was caught by their feet causing it to topple over them.

Hyun Myung was rushed to the hospital. Actually, this was the awakening moment for A Jin. A bit weak, but maybe because this is the last episode, the only thing the writer could come up for her to redeem herself. Ha Ni was so agitated, she was very concerned for Hyun Myung, she was crying. Shi Kyung saw her in that condition and knew he had to let her go.

I feel sad when he cried. He lost to Hyun Myung. He knew he was a step late from recognizing his feelings for her that's why he lost her. I think by this time, Ha NI was still confused but then she went to Hyun Myung. Like she really did chose him. 

After the hospital scene where Ha Ni and Hyun Myung finally face each other, they started their relationship. Sweet, romantic and happy, they shared their Ha Ni's final days of the countdown. At the Han River where they both met for the first time, they spent Ha Ni's final hours. He gave her a ring and kissed her. He told her that he loves her completely so if she still disappears, it wold be on her. Maybe she was not totally into him yet or that she still has not gotten over Shi Kyung completely. While their lips locked and fingers intertwined, Ha Ni, disappeared.

This was unexpected because I thought when she found true love she would stay human forever without going away. Still, she was gone. Before the Han River scene, I was touched when she and Hye Young said their goodbyes to each other. Ha Ni was not sure if she would disappear so she wanted thanked Hye Young for being good to her.

Days passed and everyone left behind continued their lives. Ji Yong found a girlfriend at the company, A Jin and Hyun Myung became friends again, Hye Young and Big are still together and happy, and Shi Kyung decided to go to New York. He even recommended A Jin to work there. All moved on but stayed friends. They celebrated good news that night outside the house, while missing Ha Ni. All of a sudden a loud burst of explosion appeared and a shadow of a woman appeared in the midst of smoke. 

They all stayed still, breaking into smiles realizing it was Ha Ni, returning. That was the end with a caption on the screen...

I WILL BE BACK...

Hmmm...I guess this is the best the writer can give the viewers for the limited one hour to wrap up the story. Remember the drama was cut don by four episodes so I think the story was rushed to gave a satisfactory ending.

Well, the romance between Hyun Myung and Ha Ni was definitely cut into consecutive screen time with narration. I will just have to be contented of what I saw. But although I like Hyun Myung, I still prefer the hot chef, hahaha. I felt he should be the one knowing he was the reason Ha Ni risked her life to be a human. And I always smiled whenever they are together because the chemistry between Jo Bo Ah  and Song Jae Rim is amazing. While Oh Joo Wan is the kind and sweet guy but the spark with Jo Bo Ah pales in comparison with Song Jae Rim.

Anyways, I think 10 episodes is no bad at all. I hope that the words "I will be back" is a promise that there will be season two for Surplus Princess. I can watch another season. Because I want to find out who is really Ha Ni's true love. Two men, two sincere love, but which one really made her into human forever?
