Short Recap

From previous episode, the Crowned Princess begged the Crowned Prince to dethrone her for reasons she knew would be accepted. She told him that she did not deserve to stay in her position as his wife for not having been able to bear a child, which of course is not her fault. She was into self pity that the Prince somehow realized how he made her like this from the happy Princess to a sad one. But he denied her request.

The Princess drown herself in drinking. When she became tipsy..well more than that, she went outside and confronted the eunuchs wailing at them. No one seemed to pacify her. The Prince found her and carried her inside not minding the eyes of the servants around them. Because she was drunk, she slept, but tried to keep her eyes open to see the Prince who stayed with her through out the night, writing. Next morning, he was gone to some place to avoid the King who has told him to visit his wife and make sure there will be a successor soon.

The letter he wrote talked about his feelings concerning Mi Ryung or Hyang Sun. She was his weakness and flaw at that time. But I think he also made it clear that Hyang Sun is in the past now. And I think it was what he was trying to say to the Princess.

Kim Ja Jeom has orchestrated a plan...

The story jumped to 15 days later where Park Dal Hyang was still escorting the envoy of Yong Gol Dae. They arrived at their destination to rest for at least a few days. There, the host gave a party. Dal Hyang was in duty. He once went to Gol Dae's room to get his signature. It was as if they had never been in a fight against each other. Gol Dae was accommodating, a bit friendly to him and mocking at the same time. He even told Dal Hyang if he wanted to get a free advise about fighting because the Prince got a tip from him. The reason the Prince won. Surprised, Dal Hyang became interested and asked what time should they meet. They set up the meeting after the party. But then Kim Ja Jeom arrived, knowing that Gol Dae, Dal Hyang and also Hyang Sun were all in the same place. He needed to make his move, a plan to wipe the two in one struck. Like killing two birds with one stone.

Hyang Sun drugged the drink of Gol Dae making him tipsy. Dal Hynag was soon summoned to his room. As he went inside, Gol Dae became crazy and attacked him. Dal Hyang was surprised but tried to fight. Kim Ja Jeom's plan was working. Gol Dae was able to slashed a part of Dal Hyang. Then the story was cut, showing a dead person without a head. Everybody thought it was Dal Hyang, while Gol Dae was not even aware how it happened while the soldiers from both sides were there asking him.

What was the plan?

It seems that 5 days before, the King heard rumors about the Princess hiding Gol Dae at the temple. There was truth about it when she was asked to transfer Gol Dae and hid him by the Prince's teacher. But then the rumor had spread lies with it. It was said that the Princess gave her hair pin, the one from the Prince's mother, to Gol Dae as a token of love. The Prince denied it and talked to the Princess about lying to the King when she was summoned again. She should be very good in lying, avoiding stammering to convince the King. Because if found out that the hair pin was really not in her possession, she would be dethroned. The Princess told the King that the hair pin was being cleaned and that she would use it in the next event which was exactly 15 days later.

The Prince summoned both Seung Po and Min Seo to go to where Gol Dae was, knowing that something would happen and that they have to get the pin from Gol Dae before anyone else. And so the two embarked on their journey, but of course, too late. They arrived at the scene where a dead body was there and Gol Dae was being interrogated by many soldiers and Kim Ja Jeom. The insisted that the body belonged to Dal Hyang, but Seung Po wanted to find the head before confirming. They sent Pan Shwe to the Prince to relay the bad news and to give his letter. Dal Hyang was dead and they have not found the pin yet.

Time is running. The Prince decided to go after them. But before he went he asked the Princess to stay at her family for the time being. The Princess suddenly felt sad, looking at her room, thinking it might be the last time she would see it. But the Prince assured her that she will come back even if she does not want to, just like what she hoped for. There is certainty in the Prince's words that she will stay as the Princess.

But then he does not know the plans of Kim Ja Jeom and Hyang Sun. Ja Jeom promised Hyang Sun he will make her the Princess. To quicken his plans, he urged the governor of the town to make a hasty decision about Gol Dae. He told him that Gol Dae must be beheaded soon or he will go to trial. They would not like that, because according to Ja Jeom the palace or the Royal family would be dragged to the scandal which they must avoid. And so, the day of beheading arrived. No Park Dal Hyang yet.

But then, the one eyed man appeared on the crime scene and he poked his long blade into the floor and beneath. Park Dal Hyang was there, hidden. He just woken up. He saw the blade but it missed him. The one eyed man tried again.

some thoughts...

This is turning to be a very good twist in the story. I feel that it won't be too late for Gol Dae but maybe the plan to jeopardize the position of the Princess will succeed. I really hoped not. And I hope the Prince's heart will not waver even if he is still not really over with Hyang Sun. I see that he is somehow liking the Princess now, after she has shown to him what she desires and her weaknesses. She also amuses him.

Regarding Dal Hyang, there was anew character, the Qing girl who is only 15 years old and is fascinated by him. Just looking at them I see a nice chemistry between them. And besides I think the Princess and Dal Hyang had their closure when she visited him at the prison cell. The longing was gone, replaced by smiles of two people who were once friends.

I am very interested in Gol Dae's role in the drama. He is not the ordinary villain here. He exudes charm which makes him on the level of the musketeers. In this episode, I missed the humor Seung Po always do.

Hyang Sun will surely be a headache in the coming episodes. Writernim is very good in developing the story and cutting the episode in just the right time making me [the viewer] want more.
