[mslee's thoughts] The Legendary Witch Ep. 11 & 12 Short Review

Just short recap...

From previous episode, [11] Soo In got out of prison. Woo Seok withdrew money from his own account just to help her settle the amount of money the culprit asked. But then, Poong Geum together with mother Bok Nyeo had barged in the bakery against the strong caution of Woo Seok's father-in-law. They secured the CCTV that proved the man assaulted / harassed Soo In. 

The girls stayed with Woo Seok's family aside from Poong Geum who continues to live at the dormitory in the same area. She still has not found out that Mr. Tak also lives there. The Chairman promoted Woo Seok to work at the headquarters. The promotion should be a nice thought but he felt uncomfortable especially when family members of the Ma family are taunting him.

Well the good thing is that both Woo Seok and Soo In live together now. And true to romantic incident that could happen between two people in the same house, they found themselves in a very awkward incident. Soo In went inside the bathroom not knowing it was already occupied. She was washing cloth when Woo Seok who just finished showering stepped out of the shower curtain with only a bath towel on his hips. She was so surprised she yelped. He too was stunned. Immediately, he walked passed her but the soap on the floor made him lose his balance. He was about to fall that Soo In tried to grab him ending them both on the floor with her on the top and incidentally touched her lips on his lips.

EPISODE 12

That feeling when awkwardness creeps in after what happened inside the bathroom. When no one knows but the two of them. They are both acting weird, like so silent during the family meal. Woo Seok excused himself while Soo In went to the kitchen to get something. He walked towards the kitchen, finding her and could no longer avoid her. He acted normally. Both apologized for the mishap.

That day, Woo Seok started work at the headquarters. He was welcomed by the Chairman with gladness. But he reminded the Chairman that he would only stay until the problem was solved and he would go back to the kitchen, where he truly loves working. Joo Hee wanted to visit him and his daughter at home but he stop her. He told her some other time perhaps.

Soo In went to a job interview. Woo Seok saw her and followed her. She was accepted but after some time, she went back to the bakery and honestly told the manager that she learned baking inside the prison. The manager was sorry to tell her that her acceptance was revoked because of her record. Woo Seok followed her while she walked and asked her to come with him. But instead, he tried to cheer her up by drinking with her. She must have gotten so drunk that she was talking nonsense about the Ma family. She even sang the song the ahjumma in the prison kept singing. He carried her on his back on their way home.

In this episode Aeng Ran showed that she was the one who was sending anonymous letters to Woo Seok. She was giving him hints to remember his past. But then, he is having a hard time connecting the photos he received and what are their meanings to him. It seemed that Aeng Ran knew so much about Woo Seok that's why from earlier episode she called him a wild card in regards to her plans concerning the company. Woo Seok has become the Chairman's favorite and making him his son-in-law is a good idea.

I now wonder if Woo Seok and Bok Nyeo are mother and son? And that Aeng Ran and the Chairman had something to do with what happened to Bok Nyeo's husband and to Woo Seok being taken to the orphanage. Maybe it was also the reason why he received scholarship during his studies from the company.

Regarding Poong Geum and Mr. Tak, both are still clueless that they live in the same dormitory. They always fight but have yet to see each other. They went on a date as Poong Geum the building owner and Mr. Tak as Ma Do Jin the wealthy chaebol son. At the villa, Mr. Tak asked the caretaker not to tell about him using it. The ambiance was so romantic, he even proposed. But then in was cut short because Do Jin arrived and they got to sneak out before they were found out. She thought Do Jin was the driver as Mr. Tak had told her.

Meanwhile, Do Jin saw Mi O in the restaurant where he met his future wife, He followed Mi O and they exchanged angry words. He thought that she got money from her mother to lose the baby and was studying abroad. She was so proud to let him think the worst of her, just to protect her child like what Aeng Ran had threatened her.

Do Jin felt so frustrated after meeting her. His anxious got bigger when his future wife maneuvered the plans to speeding up the engagement. He was so against it but the families have already agreed to it. Even though he is not happy with the arrangements, he still uses the girl to hurt Mi O who is working at the restaurant as a crew.

The good part of this episode is that Bok Nyeo and Soo In joined a contest on baking. The contest is not only about baking and showing skills but it also includes back stories of the bakers and how they come to bake the bread or cake they presented in relation to their lives.

Soo In was so honest about Bok Nyeo's past when she told their stories. They found courage in facing the world outside through baking. The judges liked what they heard. They won the contest.

I think that good things will now happen in Soo In and the rest of the girls. There is a chance that Do Jin will come back to Mi O and rejects the engagement. Poong Geum who realized that the ring she got from Do Jin [Mr. Tak] is not a diamond will perhaps change her outlook on seeking wealthy men. Or maybe, they should just bump into each other at the dormitory to start another romance, more realistic this time.

I like how Woo Seok is really avoiding Joo Hee. It is clear that he really has no intention of giving in to her even if she is a friend. I hope that more and more, Woo Seok and Soo In will have a good relationship starting as friends living in the same house.

I think the drama is showing the good  side of the Ma family like when Joo Ran cried at her mother who could not recognized her and the Chairman arrived. They all hugged as one family. I mean, it's not all bad thoughts or actions but when it comes to family, there is still warmth and understanding between themselves. Even when Do Jin was so frustrated at what is happening to him, he can't seem to abandon his mother because he truly loves her.

Perhaps, the revenge part will be bad but it can also bring everyone to realize something more important than greed. And I hope I am not too far ahead in guessing.
