[mslee's thoughts] Can We Love Review - Mixed Up Love Story Begins While Past Caught Up With The Present

File:Can We Love-p1.jpg

Seriously, this drama is getting better and more complex each week. So many simultaneous events happenings I feel full every after episode. It is as if my time spent watching it raw/live via streaming and watching it again with sub are well worth it. The drama is bringing serious subjects which are seldom shown in TV for it's moral issues. At the same time, it is educational and can help viewers to see them in a new perspective. Of course, choices are still very much his/her own decision.

Episode 5 and 6 continue to show the problems surrounding mother and daughter Ji Hyun and Se Ra. Both have the same fate. Pregnant at the wrong time. In Ji Hyun's case, she thought Do Young abandoned her and she was left to deal with her "unwanted" pregnancy. Her choice that time was to give birth but left the child to her brother's care. Pretending nothing happened and continued with her life. While Se Ra in her young age, still in middle school also became pregnant and her boyfriend is nowhere to be contacted. She is so scared which is understandable considering she is not yet ready to have this kind of responsibility. She tried to hide it, tried to abort it but just in the nick of time decided to run away from the place. I know it's hard to be courageous in such time in that condition but personally, I am glad she changed her mind. Her only option is to tell Ji Hyun. Ji Hyun is already facing so much difficulties, finding the reasons why Do Young and her separated and Se Ra's new problem is so much to take in. As a mother you don't want to hear such news ever while your child is still in school. But what should she do? She knew how it was to be in her place.

I was surprised when Ji Hyun suggested to see a doctor for an abortion. Normally, a mother will not even consider it but in her case, I want to understand her thinking. Is she really protecting Se Ra or the family from shame? Concealing Se Ra's state to the family is a selfish act. I believe the father should know about it and as a family be supportive and show more love to Se Ra is most important at a time like this. But I will wait what will happen next after Se Ra run out on her mother. I think Se Ra has the sole and final decision to what she wants for the baby and the family must respect that. Seeing she has decided not to abort, then morally she choose the right decision.

Another twist of the drama that keeps me interested and hoping for a closure or maybe a continuation, whichever way it goes is the love story of Do Young and Ji Hyun. It seems that their past is catching up with their present situation. All pent up emotions are being laid open and as adults I love the way they can talk about what happened to them. The only concern is that Do Young if he will have his way would like to resume where they left off if given the chance. He really loves Ji Hyun. While Ji Hyun, I don't think she is entertaining any reconciliation or whatever with him. So far, what's important to her is her perception of perfect family. She might be crying for what could have been and her mistakes but I don't think she will risk everything she has now to bring up the past. But then, I think it is not as perfect a marriage as the story likes to show. Something must be wrong somewhere, besides the arrogant mother in law and problematic daughter. I want to know what the writer will come up with to make Ji Hyun find her happiness.

Mixed up love story begins at work. The kiss that happened between Director Oh and Jung Wan at the karaoke room was both surprising yet mutual and passionate. I think Jung Wan and Kyung Soo have this invisible tension between them since they met. It grows each day. It heightens every time he teases her in his adorable and irritating way. The satisfaction he gets when he annoys her camouflage the real electricity between them. Jung Wan might be longing for a kiss but that moment she initiated it, it was just an answer to what she has been feeling towards Kyung Soo. I was glad that after the shared kiss, he realized his attraction to her enough to confess his feelings the next time they met.

Then here is Sun Mi who decided to pursue Kyung Soo. She planned, she called, she texted, she invited to watch movie, she assumed too much of his undivided attention he gave her when they are together. Sun Mi has always been lucky with cornering Kyung Soo. Fortunate that time is on her side when he passed up drunk. Inside the hotel room where he was laid, unconsciously, she kissed him. When he tried to get up and lost balance again with her on the bed, next scene was he was sleeping, without clothes and she was coming from the bathroom wearing a robe only. Did something happened between them? Maybe. Both adult, even drunk I guess.

But what is important is what he felt after he woke up seeing her in the same room. He felt shocked. Absolutely not thrilled to see her and realized what just happened. He is regretting. Sun Mi is a liberated woman and in pursuit of happiness and hopefully marriage. She has zeroed her attention to Director Oh Kyung Soo. Whether he likes her or not, which he has immediately clear with her that he likes someone else, it doesn't matter to Sun Mi. What matter is that she be given the chance to get his attention. Of course, no man can say "no way, forget it!" A man is a man and will not intentionally hurt the feelings of the woman who just confesses to him. There are some ways to make her realize like avoiding her. But Sun Mi won't have it. She went to see him in the office and with Jung Wan and Park Seung Ryong they went for a meal.

The love story is getting complicated when it has just started for Kyung Soo and Jung Wa. Still unaware of Sun Mi getting interested towards him, I wonder what will Jung Wan do if she finds out. What Jung Wan and Kyung Soo have is so fragile, only glimpse of hope to be mutually happy at the moment. I don't think Sun Mi will back out even if she finds out about them.

I felt sad once again for Yoon Seok. He waited for Sun Mi but when she did not come home, he knew she slept out with the director. She broke his heart totally this time. Just after using him when there's no one she can turn to, and even playing dog sitter when she  has no one to take the dog to. Sun Mi's fault is that she is selfish to think that even though she keeps saying to Yoon Seok that there's no future for them, she should have drawn the line between them firmly. No sleeping together when she feels lonely. Not while her eyes are looking at Kyung Soo and determined to get his affection.

The story is so real I am loving the twist. Kinda irritated though with Sun Mi at the moment but I know I would want her to be happy too.

Until next episode.

Park Ha Sun Will Be Showing Off Her Action Skills in New Drama “Three Days”

Park Ha Sun Will Be Showing Off Her Action Skills in New Drama “Three Days”

Actress Park Ha Sun will be putting her action skills to the test in the new SBS drama, “Three Days.”
In “Three Days,” Park Ha Sun plays the police officer Yoon Bo Won, who helps Han Tae Kyung (Park Yoo Chun), a member of the president’s guard. In order to play her character, who is tough and chivalrous, she has been showing great enthusiasm, even cutting her long hair and changing her style.
The actress even personally researched her character, reading police books and visiting police stations.
Moreover, in order to perfect her action scenes in “Three Days,” Park Ha Sun has been going to action school since the end of last year. Known to be athletic, enjoying activities like climbing, she is determined to personally do all of her own action scenes without a stuntman.
Her agency said, “As much as this is a new role for her, she is extremely determined. In order to pull of a tough police officer, she is giving her all in action school. We’ll be able to see a whole new side of Park Ha Sun.”
“Three Days” is a collaboration between writer Kim Eun Hee (“Tree With Deep Roots”) and PD Shin Kyung Soo, and has been in the works for about a year and a half, featuring a strong cast and production team. It will air after the end of “Man From the Stars.”

[mslee's thoughts] Man From The Stars Review - Confession and Revelation : Will Love Be Do Min Joon's Fall?

Man From The Stars is getting more intense with Song Yi and Min Joon both can't hold their feelings anymore. Song Yi already told Min Joon how she feels but Min Joon still in  conflict with his emotions. Soon he will leave or may die. His powers are getting weaker. His ability to know what will happen is not working. His senses are weakening. And the most scary thing is that Jae Kyung knew his abilities. He can surprise him yet again with his psychotic killing mood.

In episode 11, he just passed out for a brief moment but in episode 12 after he was injured from the car hitting him, he lost consciousness for a long while after barely making himself disappear from the accident scene. Bloody and unconscious, Song Yi found her and with lawyer Jang they look after him. He was very weak.

Song Yi's anxiety is not unknown to Min Joon. He knew what she feels. But because time is running out he told her not to appear in front of him again. Totally rejecting her. But in his dreams, he saw himself with Song Yi having a happy life.

My concern is that while Min Joon may acknowledge openly his feelings for Song Yi, his love for her make him weak as an alien. For someone who has been living on earth for 400 years, and with an ambitious and murderer on the loose, his safety is a real concern. After finding love for all this time, will death follows and in the end separate the two lovers?

At the end of episode 12, finally Min Joon revealed who he is to Song Yi. I know she is not stupid not to notice and realize that something is not quite right with him, still she did not mind. But seeing him and what he can do, realizing he has been around for 400 years, I wonder what will she do? Will she accept him for who  he is or be afraid and put distance between them.

I feel sad that with only two months remaining, Do Min Joon only found love.  Am not sure where the writer will take me with 8 episode to go. But really hoping Min Joon and Song Yi will be able to find ways to stay together alive and happy in the end.

I know there will be more trials, more thrilling scenes until Jae Kyung is found out. For now he is the biggest threat to Min Joon's life on earth. He has the power to think of surprising him and cornering him. And the deal Min Joon just had with him about owning to the crime regarding Yoo Ra is scary.

I hope the writer will be able to think of ways to make love not Min Joon's fall but his strength. Song Yi should not be his weakness but someone who will give him energy to stay alive.

[mslee's thoughts] Episode 4 Inspiring Generation Review - Getting Passed The Pains and Trials

The episode showed about going on with life after the first pangs of heart aches. Gaya and Jung Tae fall apart right after the sweet kiss they shared. Finding her father lifeless with Young Chul next to him and hearing Jung Tae called this man "father" was too much to take in. She assumed the worst and with heart full of venom declared vengeance!

Sinichi was about to kill Jung Tae but Gaya stopped him. She will kill both father and son with her own hands. Jung Tae could not believe what he heard, of what happened so suddenly to the young lady he just kissed. The circumstances were so ironic he had to endure the pain, body and heart.

I have always said that I love the cinematography of the drama and once again despite the sad scene where Gaya said goodbye to his father, it was such a beautiful place caught on moving camera. By the seashore, she sat there looking at the things she had with her. The photos of her mother, their family and a letter. Sinichi was standing from  distance giving her enough privacy. She read the letter and it said that she should look out for the one who wears the other half of the amulet she wears because it was the one who killed her mother. She immediately hide her necklace inside her blouse.

Sinichi exudes mystery and I am intrigue. He seems to be protective of Gaya so I wonder what's the relationship he has with her. In the scene, Gaya threatened to kill herself, and almost killed herself if not for Sinichi stopping her. It was an emotional scene and I felt the sincerity in Sinichi's eyes towards Gaya. When Gaya changed her clothes, an attendant helped her to fix herself, put on make up she transformed in this bery beautiful young woman. Sinichi was by the door looking at her and in his eyes, he remembered someone. I think it must have been her mother, he called Princess Ryoko. He was then a child but she trusted him to be her bodyguard then, to save and protect her. He saw her beauty in Gaya. A memory that brought something in his eyes, maybe sadness for that woman.

One character that caught my attention in this episode is Do Ggoo. I know I was irritated by him because of  his fight with Jung Tae, but clearly he is not the stupid "dog" people saw him. This man is an ambitious one and know when to use his head. He went to see Sinichi and he was instructed to deal with a bunch of gangster until such time he comes back. He was given a choice, to be a coward or not. I thought he would be happy to wag his tail for Sinichi but oh no, he walked out thinking differently. He has his own agenda and following orders will not make him achieve them. I think Do Ggoo will make his moves when he thinks it will be the right time and benefit him in the future.

Another surprising scene for me was when met Chung A in the market streets while she was not feeling fine. He helped her pick up the fruits she bought and escorted her home. I think he was sincere that moment towards Chung A. Maybe his hidden goodness came out when he saw her. No malice, no motive, plain being a good samaritan.

Jung Tae went to seek Ok Ryeon. I like the way Ok Ryeon handled her feelings when she asked Jung Tae if Gaya has to do with what he has been feeling lately. For a moment, I thought it was good that Jung Tae, in his hard times sought out Ok Ryeon. Because sometimes, you only share those moments with people you really care, to reveal all yourself at your weakest. But I understood Ok Ryeon that although it's heart warming that he seeks her but at the same time, the things that made him feel low was because of Gaya. She is intelligent enough to know that while she may give comfort, he was hurting because of some one else. I can see her pain through her eyes but she held her tears with dignity. Jung Tae knew what he had done to her and feeling guilty. Guilty that he made her feel second in his life. But Ok Ryeon is not the vindictive one. She may be hurting, jealous still, she told him that she saw Gaya believing she will go to the train station. She did not act selfish. I think she realize her place.

Jung Tae run towards the station and just in time caught up with Gaya and Sinichi. When Gaya saw him, Sinichi gave instructions to his men to distract the people but Gaya touched his hand and told him she will kill him, took his samurai and with precision walked straight to jung Tae and aimed the blade. For a moment I really thought she will harm him even slashed him but stopped in mid air. Her emotions were controlled while she looked at him. Jung Tae heaved a great sigh when he was spared. I think in her heart, though she wanted badly to revenge her father she knew that Jung Tae was just caught in the middle and that she loves him. Jung Tae promised her he would find the culprit, and that he will wait for her return.

When Gaya turned away, he repeat his promise to wait for her. She moved away. As the train started moving, he run as it speeds away until he can no longer catch up.

When he reached home that was when he saw Do Ggoo with Chung A. He immediately flared up and hit him. Chung A stopped him and explained. She was mad at Jung Tae acting that way. She told him that Do Ggoo helped her and she was just offering him something to eat in return. I think this incident somehow put a truce between this two men. Do Ggoo even offered him to asked him for money if he needed for Chung A.

When Sinichi and Gaya arrived at their destination, there was Aka in a fight with Aoki. Both are fierce fighter but the master is Aka. Gaya watched. Sinichi told him about the rules of the fight and that if the trainer, Aoki won't be able to at least wound his opponent then he will die. Aoki was determined. After a long battle, he threw his samurai on the ground just beside Aka and pounced forward to defend the blade Aka was about to pierce his way and in a surprise move got hold of his samurai on the ground and slashed Aka on his side.

Gaya was so engrossed and at the same time frightened. Sinichi told her that her first hurdle would be with Aka so is her last hurdle. When she was taking a bath, Aoki suddenly appeared not minding her lack of clothing and just talked to her. He told her that they are the same, trainers until such time they will be trusted with another great task. He also advise her about Aka.

I think I will like Aoki's character. Not so much has been divulge yet but I will be interested what will be his role in Gaya's life. Denkai Doyama instructed Sinichi to train Gaya and make her surpass her mother's abilities. He won't see her until such time. She trained under Sinichi. hard training. While she was learning her skills, so is Jung Tae. He is learning how to jump the train. Poong Cha and Bong Sik are both looking out at him and giving tips. They are showing Jung Tae their concern, even giving him something to wrap around his hands so as not to slip once he grabbed the handler.

The moment of real trial came for Both Jung Tae and Gaya.

What I like about Gaya is that not only is she determined to win this battle but also uses her head to outwit his opponent who is Aka. The scary Aka. Waiting for her first move, Gaya told him she make when she is ready to make it. Minutes passed, sweat already forming in Aka's head, Gaya, a bit trembling but not wavering in her stance, she waited for that slip Aka would show. He slacked his hands on his samurai and that's when Gaya moved fast. Throwing her other blade towards Aka who was surprised by her sudden move, ward off the flying dagger but forgot there's still the other dagger in her hand that she skillfully threw on his side piercing him, blood flowing.

A very intelligent and nicely executed plan of Gaya. She just earned respect and acknowledgment of her capabilty. Aoki was watching from a distance and he smirked a little.

Jung Tae prepared for his jump. That night he prepared the package and left. Chung A was awake and has her own plans. DobiNori bid him to take care. Poong Cha and Bong Sik were there telling him to come back safe. Kab Sae and Jjang Ddol were with Jung Tae and saw him off. his attempt at jumping the train was not easy but he got hold of the handle and gripped it hard. He made it. The sad part, the people who were there when he jumped off stabbed him and got the package. They left him bleeding.

Unexpected disappearance of Chung A made Jjang Ddol, Ok Ryeon and the gisaeng worried. She left a note to her brother. I think it was a farewell note and that she will end her life. She went towards the cliff, stared at the water below.

When Jung Tae regained conciousness, he was already saved. Two men saw him and carried him to be treated. Bong Sik and Poong Cha met them. He saw Ok Ryeon by his side. He asked about Chung A and she cried. Suddenly he knew something bad happened. In his wounded state, he tried to get up and went to the place where Chung A was last seen. There he cried for his loss. He cried for not being there for her. He cried as the loving brother of Chung A. A very emotional scene.

Just before the episode ended, Sinichi was waiting for Gaya and there she was, a grown up Gaya, ready and beautiful. Her presence on the screens gives me chills. She exudes so much invisible powers that emenates through the screen. She looks elegant yet much tougher.

Then here comes Jung Tae, adult Jung Tae, a lot more braver, rougher and masculine as ever. He smacked and hit all that got in his way. He is there to face his enemies alone. And face them he did!

Finally, the awaited adult characters are here. The episode although sad and painful showed how they worked hard to get passed them.

Just my last thought for this episode:

While Chung A seemed to have ended her life, I have a feeling she may not be really dead but only missing. One person suddenly came to mind and maybe he saw her and keep her safe.
Hmmm.... I could be wrong, but I want her to be alive. I hope the sincerity I glimpsed in Do Ggoo's eyes were real and that he had something to do with Chung A and her health.

So far..just random thought.

Inspiring Generation fighting!
