Korean actor Yu A-in, actress Mina Shin and actor Son Hyun-ju will serve as members of a jury for a short film fest.
The event’s promoter D’light said through a press release on Monday that the three talents will be honorary jurors at the 12th Mise-en-scene Short Film Festival (MSFF), which will be held in Seoul from June 27 to July 4.
The MSFF, held every June, aims to reach out to innovative and creative genres and films that reflect different aspects of the world. The film fests also aims to “support and promote talented young Koreans in the field of film-making.”
The opening film of this year’s fest will be “Moving Self-Portrait 2013,” which is a film where directors introduce themselves. Shot by participants in competition, the film is full of video clips that reflect film-making through the eyes of the directors.
The competition will consist of the categories “A Short Film about Love_ Focus on Relationship,” “The King of Comedy_From Chaplin to Steven Chow,” “The Extreme Nightmare_ World of Horror & Fantasy” and “The 20000 Blows_Action & Thriller on Mean Streets.”
Ten films from last year’s film fest including director Hang Ji-hye’s “Who Killed Gong Jung-wha?” and director Kim Jung-in’s “Cheung,” have been invited to this year’s New York Asian Film Festival, held from June 28 to July 15.
Meanwhile, while Yu will be in a new film “Kang Chul” [translated title] later this year, Shin will also be in director Kim Jee-woon’s new short film “Hide & Seek” [translated title], also featuring actor Kang Dong-won.
After the end of Yu’s “Jang Ok Jeong” on Tuesday, actor Son Hyun-ju’s new drama “Empire of Gold” [translated title], starring actor Ko Soo, will premiere on July 1.
