[mslee's thoughts] Angel Eyes - Struggling With Dr. Choi's Version of Truth

Random thoughts

This is Dr. Choi's version of what truth he only knew. Dr. Jae Beom killed Jung Hwa. But what's true is that it is only a part of a more bigger truth he has no knowledge of.

A small part of the story of Jung Hwa's death was finally revealed to Dong Joo. But then, it is important how the story was revealed, who delivered the story, what was the motive behind the revelation and is it the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

It won't be easy to accept a truth 12 years later when it was kept secret by someone who has been supporting Dong Joo all these years. The question of sincerity will now arise from those years they bonded together as father and son. Is it intentional on his part to ease his guilt?

But why now? If it is a misconduct, ethically wrong for a doctor, an intent to kill, why hid the truth if there was a witness? Why only  reveal now when the witness could have gone to the authorities and arrest the killer? He kept silent for 12 years, is he any better than Dr. Jae Beom?

I am barely controlling my disgust towards Dr. Choi. He is a useful pawn in this game of hiding the real truth of the real  murderer. Without any knowledge of who was behind Jung Hwa's death, Dr Choi is delivering his part successfully as the most vicious, malicious and irritatingly stupid villains in the story. The fact that his motive is 12 years too late, the fact that he is suddenly involving himself in someone else's business and the way he comes across being indignant of Dong Joo not wanting to reveal the truth he claimed to be is seriously [chongmal, chongmal!] getting on my nerves! He is more annoying than the real culprit herself, Dr. Oh Young Ji.

Her subtle and calm disposition handling her secret of the past is verging in between being unrepentant and guilt-ridden or regret. She will do everything in her power to protect her love ones because she believes she is doing it for love and that it is the right thing to do. Twisted reasoning. I wonder if her son Ji Woon is not a part of this secret past? Because her actions showed that she will do anything for her precious son.

Dong Joo struggled with this "truth" he found. His emotions were in turmoil. The man who saved him was actually a monster. The man who he calls father is someone who came into his life, out of guilt, out of shame, a man who alleviate his sin and thinks he is repaying for what he had done. Dong Joo is having a hard time coming to terms with who Dr. Jae Beom really is. Will he be able to live knowing what he had done to Jung Hwa and continue living as if he heard nothing, found out nothing? Can his love for Soo Wan cover his mixed emotions for her father? Will their love for each other be enough to bury the past and start again by continuing to hide the "truth"?

Dong Joo has his mother's records. As a doctor, that crucial information on the sheet of the time when Jung Hwa suddenly became in danger was a huge clue already. Will he be able to realize that apart from Dr. Jae Beom taking away the oxygen mask and not resuscitating/reviving the patient there was something urgent that happened to Jung Hwa before she was in danger state?

The way the story goes, Dong Joo chose not to complicate things more by shutting up Dr. Choi. He should have realized that Dr. Choi has his own motive. I hope Dong Joo will be intelligent enough to assess Dr. Choi as someone who wants more trouble.

While Dong Joo was having a hard time, so is Soo Wan. She knew something is wrong but she never really asked. She is very trusting, which is consistent of her personalty. She never nags Dong Joo but wait if he is ready to share. In the end all she could do was give him comfort. The situation is not good for both of them but love is what's keeping them together. I believe Dong Joo will not abandon Soo Wan but protect her from the past. But what about Ji Woon who heard him and Dr. Choi's exchanged at the rooftop? He must have concluded wrongly. Or will he dig more?

I still have faith in Ji Woon to do the right thing. I trust that he will not use what information he have to destroy Soo Wan and Dong Joo's relationship. I hope he really loves Soo Wan to choose the path of protecting her rather than hurting her. Soo Wan hurting does not mean Soo Wan will turn to love him.

Another annoying villain is the Chief of police. A trash, a mole in the department. He earned my displeasure when he betrayed his partner Kim Woo Chul 12 years ago. Until now he is doing what he did then, keeping the truth locked up and transferring Min Soo in traffic department to stop her investigation. Woo Chul was hit hard on the head by a man. He will definitely be in danger but I hope he will regain consciousness. This should make Min Soo more eager to find out the hit and run criminal. Dong Joo should also find it weird, odd that someone is trying to bury the evidence and that there is more story to Jung Hwa's death that he knew of.

Dong Joo warned Dr. Choi to keep silent. His anger towards the whole messy situation is being aggravated by this Dr. Choi who is provoking him. He should expect more underhand ways coming from Dr. Choi. With Dong Joo grabbing his collar, Dr. Choi will surely get back at him. I am looking forward to the time he will learn the truth, that he is being played and used by Dr. Oh Young Ji and it will truly be amazing if the writer will reverse his attitude to harassing Dr. Oh Young Ji which is exactly what Dr Choi is capable of doing since he is a devious one.

The proposal and bliss after was cut short by this recent events that unfolded. But anyhow, those moments Soo Wan and Dong Joo acted sweet and loving towards each other are enough to stay glued to the screen and look forward to next episodes. The relationship may alter, may reduce the intensity but I think Dong Joo will try hard to stay focus and be attentive to keep Soo Wan from wondering.

Episode 11 brought a lot of romance and happiness, while episode 12 dampen the atmosphere of the relationship. A strong person like Dong Joo and a survivor person like Soo Wan, I want to think positively that even thought the story is heading to a painful "truth", and that Dr. Jae Beom will be dragged, still both will be able to handle it intelligently and faithfully.

I remember the ahjumma Soo Wan rescued who was seeing spirits everywhere, she told Soo Wan that she has a kind spirit that is protecting her. With this thoughts, I am looking towards a just and happy ending.
